Minolta DiMage A2

8.0 Megapixel Resolution for Breathtaking Detal
• With 8.0 megapixels at your command, you'll be able to create more subtly refined digital images than ever. Portraits will seem richer as each hair, each fiber stands out more clearly. Landscapes, too, will appear more life-like through enhanced detail. And if you look closely, you'll notice that details are sharper than usual, a benefit of the larger size of the 2/3-type CCD. Your images will look great as enlargements: up to A2-size (approx. 42 x 59 cm / 17 x 23 inches) at 150 dpi. The higher resolution will give you more flexibility with cropping as well.
Images Optimized by an Advanced LSI
• Every scene is different, requiring a different kind of processing. The DiMAGE A2 features an advanced LSI to tackle this complexity. White balance, contrast, and color reproduction are optimized with an exceptional degree of accuracy. Noise that tends to occur in the low-contrast areas of digital images is effectively suppressed, with no loss of image quality. And while quality is boosted, so is your shooting timethe LSI is remarkably energy-efficient.
Colors Faithful to Your Impressions from CxProcess II
• "Colors should come out just the way you see them." Seems like a simple concept, but not all digital cameras are up to the task. The DiMAGE A2 succeeds because of its image processing technology, CxProcess II, which balances several key traits of your images. As a result, colors stay vivid but not unnaturally so. Noise during slow-shutter imaging is significantly reduced as well.
All-Glass APO Lens System
• The Konica Minolta GT Lens does exactly what a superior quality lens system is supposed to, ensuring that light gets to the CCD sensor with utmost fidelity. It has 16 elements in 13 groups, including two AD glass elements to reduce flare, chromatic aberration, and image distortion. This lens system has been designed to maximize the quality of the 8-megapixel CCD. And because it is built-in, you never run the risk of getting dust on the CCD, as can happen with interchangeable lenses. The GT Lens also offers a remarkably wide zoom range for your needs.
CCD-Shift Mechanism Provides Stability Over a Wider Range
• Anti-Shake helps you overcome camera shake during handheld shooting. It keeps images steady at telephoto ranges where camera shake is more pronounced. And it can also compensate for different kinds of shake, from small twitches to larger body movement. Furthermore, in low-light conditions you can expect better images without relying on a higher ISO setting or tripod. Anti-Shake offers unrivaled stabilityup to 3 shutter speeds slower than digital cameras without a stabilization system. What makes it so effective is its unique CCD-shift mechanism. The CCD sensor rests on a movable mount, which shifts according to the amount of camera shake detected by the camera's motion detectors. Shifting occurs along the x, y-axes to cancel out the effects of camera shake. Unlike optical or electronic-based stabilization systems, Anti-Shake does not degrade image quality, so you can make the most of 8.0 megapixel resolution.
Superior Focusing Precision in Varios Situations
• When you're shooting a moving subjectsuch as a person moving toward you or a flower moving in the wind3D AF keeps it sharp by tracking movement along three dimensions (x, y, and z axes). Then, when you press the shutter, 3D AF compensates for shutter lag with predictive focus control. Autofocusing is ultrafast so you don't miss the momentin Fulltime AF, focusing starts just 0.18 seconds after you touch the grip sensor and Super Fine EVF. As for Single-shot AF, the DiMAGE A2 delivers enhanced precision, even in tricky lighting conditions, with its wide 11-point AF area and advanced subject detection algorithm.
Follow the Action with Rapid Continuous Shooting
• The DiMAGE A2 turns on the speed when you need itto capture a dynamic moment at a sporting event or the fleeting expression of a child, for example. You can shoot 8 megapixel images at a rate of 1.9 fps while 3D AF keeps the subject in focus. For even faster shooting, UHS (ultra high-speed) mode boosts your rate by almost 5 timesat 7 fps, you can capture images in VGA resolution (640 x 480). Anti-Shake stabilizes shooting in UHS mode.
Full-Time AF and Fastest Autofocusing in its Class
• From the moment you grip the camera, Full-time AF goes into action. Autofocusing is as fast as 0.18 seconds, the fastest among 8.0-megapixel SLR-type digital cameras with a built-in lens system with optical zoom.* You'll be ready for your shot immediately. Full-time AF is available in either Single Shot AF mode or when Flex Focus Point and Continuous AF are used together.
